This was a article I saw this morning logging on to E-Trade:
"New mini options, option contracts tied to 10 shares of stock rather than the standard 100 shares, will begin trading March 18, the International Securities Exchange announced Monday. At the launch, mini options will be available on five high-priced stocks, including Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN), Google (GOOG), the SPDR Gold Trust (GLD) and SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY). "This exciting new product will make trading options on popular, high-priced names like Google and Apple more affordable and more flexible for the retail segment of the market," said ISE President and CEO Gary Katz. The minis will be available for all expiration dates, including weekly options. (email@example.com) "
This is great especially for new traders/investors that don't want to risk hundreds of dollars at a time.
